Vidyalatha. M


Bharatha Natyam, the supreme art form which skillfully embodies the three primary ingredients of dance - Bhava, Raga, Thala, fascinated Vidya at a tender age.

In her early age of six, she demonstrated keen interest and dedication coupled with sincerity and innate talent. She had her Rangapravesham under Guru Smt. Manjula Paramesh in Bangalore, Karnataka, India in the year 2004. With vigorous Traning under Guru Smt. Manjula Paramesh (Director - Sapthaswara Arts and Creations) she completed her Vidwat in Bharatnatyam conducted by Karnataka Secondary Education Board. Further Vidyalatha continued her training under a reowned Guru Late Smt. Narmada, disciple of Guru Kittapa Pillai(Tanjor, TamilNadu, Inida).


She has also attended Basic Karana workshop conducted by Guru Dr. Padma Subramanyam and Dance workshops from Guru Adyar Lakshman, Smt Indira Kadambi, Smt Veena Murthy Vijay and many more reowned Gurus. She has actively taken part major dance productions directed by Smt. Usha Venkateshwaran, Sathya Narayanaraju, Smt. Veena Murthy Vijay, Dr. Sanjay Shantaram, Smt. Padma Hemanth, Smt Manjula Paramesh, Dr. Sonal Mansingh and many more.

Vidyalatha has indeed blossomed into an accomplished dancer, performing all over India and also representing India in many other countries. She is a graded artiste in karnataka Doordarshan and an empanelled artiste in Kendriya Sadan, Bangalore.

Blessed with natural flair for the art, and relentless single-minded devotion, she has developed into her present status as an elite performing artist. Her abilities were recognized very early on and have been the recipient of numerous scholarships and awards, throughout her career.


She is a founder and director of Druva Performing Arts, a non-profit cultural organization established for propagating, promoting and nurturing the varied cultural art forms of India.

Gurus


Guru: Smt Manjula Paramesh


Manjula Paramesh, founder of Sapthaswara Arts and Creations, Bangalore. She is a disciple of Smt. Vasantha Lakshmi( Adyar Kalakshetra, Chennai, India). She is the gifted artist with mastery over both dance and music. A perfectionist, self esteemed, philosopher, ambitious, an optimist with immense talent.

She is a dedicated teacher who is not just a teacher, but a guide, well wisher and a friend tothe students who come to her seeking proficiency in this enchanting art form.

Manjula Paramesh is not only a dancer, but also a renowned classical vocal and playback singer. her lilting voice has fetched her lot of fans all over the country.


Guru: Smt. Narmada

Guru Narmada, founder of Shatuntala Nruthyalaya( memory of her mom). She is a disciple ofGuru Kittappa Pillai (died in 1999 at the age of 86), direct descendant of the Tanjore Quartet (19th century), Tamil Nadu, south India.

Guru Narmada, herself a recipient of many prestigious state awards has encouraged her disciples to retain individuality and creative freedom within the classical guidelines.

Almost all successful artiste in Bangalore would have learnt dance from Guru Narmada at some point or the otherin their dancing career. Guru Narmada has been awarded 'Shantala Award' by the Governmaent of Karnataka.

The guru has also been honoured with karnataka Sangeetha Nruthya Academy Award, The Best Teachers Award from Music Academy, Madras, Karnataka rajyotsava Award and the Bestow Award from Karnataka cultural Association, California to the field of dance and on completing 25 years of herdance institution.
